Who Should Use This Training Process?

This training process is designed to benefit dog owners with any hunting dog training competency level and with a desire to train dogs to hunt.

This is the only complete, assembled, published process that is available to the gundog owners who have not yet defined their own find, flush, and retrieve training process.

Because there is no other published comprehensive source of guidance available, it can be difficult for new gundog owners to understand the types of desired hunting behaviors that they can train their dog to perform, exactly what procedures or drills to execute to achieve their training goals, and how long it will take to execute them. This is evidenced by the fact that internet dog training chat sites are fraught with requests similar to “I just got a puppy, and I want to train my gundog for hunting, what do I do?” This training process is available to serve as a practical response to those making these types of inquiries.

There are as many gundog training processes in the world as there are experienced trainers. In other words, there exist hundreds of thousands of gundog owners that have embarked on training a dog to find, flush, and retrieve. Gundog trainers are traditionally self-taught, and they have created their own unique training processes by adopting specific procedures and drills from other trainers and published sources. Variations in the processes are created by the individual gundog trainer’s preferences for different training techniques as dictated by their own training philosophies.
